The maintenance helped a lot in the beautification project like landscaping and planting some ornamental plants to make the school grounds look better.

Every year, Jabez Christian School (JCS) improves not only the teachers, but also the physical features that make it more pleasant for the people to see. This improvement shows that it benefits teachers, students and visitors.

Last December 2008, building the new classrooms started. The building will serve as the new classrooms for pre-school department.

Every year level prepared their presentation. Some do declamation, poem, speech, and a chamber theater are some of the presentation prepared by each class. Ms. Roda took charge of the event, she also helped the High School students in doing their presentation. The 1st year class presented a declamation entitled “Two Friends” while the 2nd year class performed a choral entitled “Poor Old Woman”. They wore complete costumes and make-ups, all of them participated and memorized their script very well.

It was interesting because they play it in a form of pantomime and make it humorous so everybody could enjoy watching it. After the play, Marinel Bacala explained about the play so that it would be more understandable. Offering and tithes were gathered during the chapel hour. Dr. Rubai was invited speaker to discuss about HEROES. The definition hero is an ordinary person who responded to an EXTRA–ORINADY GOD.

After spending time with the soldiers in Camp Capinpin, “soldiers of JCS” gave their goodbyes to the soldiers of Camp Capinpin. Some Jceans endure the muds in their body inside the bus while the others changed their clothing. “Sa Falls na lang kayo maligo, malapit na lang yun dito” said Kuya Willie, one of the facilitators of Lakbay Kalikasan.

Couples Conference and Retreat with Dr. & Mrs. Rod Pence & Ptr. Clem Guillermo

Dec. 8-10, 2008

A Thre-Day Conference and Retreat for Couples in Ministry

In the afternoon of December 8, couples (pastors, Christian workers and their wives) started to converge in Bukal ng Tipan, a very lovely retreat house outside of Metro Manila. With its scenic view and nice surrounding, the place even looked lovelier in the evenings as it is overlooking the whole of Metro Manila. The dazzling of lights from afar seems to create a romantic atmosphere. And to top it all, each couple was assigned to a room. A couple who was married in 1963 and have been involved in the ministry for 45 years said “With gratefulness to God for the privilege to spend together in one room!!! Greatly appreciated!!!” A newly-married couple said “It has been a good conference and experience for relaxation, bonding, strengthening and learning for both of us.”

A total of 52 couples coming from as far as Pampanga and Batangas, came. Not only they represented different denominations, but it was also a mixture of young and old couples. But all of them have the same desire – to take part in this special retreat for couples sponsored by ACTION/CGM, as well as enjoy a brief respite from the ministry where each one is involved.

One-Day Conference with Ptr. Tom Crouse and Ptr. Herman Moldez

“Nainitan ako physically and spiritually! (I was hot physically and spiritually).” “Lack of ventilations. . .” “Please find a bigger venue next time to accommodate more attendees.” These were some of the comments gathered after the recent conference sponsored by CGM/ACTION. The complaints were valid. The conference hall which could only accommodate 150 people was jam-packed with 251 people that day! The reason for this according to the head of the conference was that many have registered at the last minute. Also one of the pre-registration sites accepted beyond the quota assigned to them. Some people could be seen standing at the back because seats could no longer be taken inside. Even spaces near the stage were occupied and at one time, I saw Mr. Nichols going out just to give his seat to one of the delegates. The air-conditioners were running full blast, but in the afternoon the room got so hot that cardboard fans were distributed.

Eighteen pairs of students and five pairs of teachers, all hand-picked, performed the stately rigodon de honor. According to teacher Rosalyn Solis, prom dance coordinator, the dancers have been practicing an hour a week since December. By the second week of January, they were learning to waltz confidently. “The J-S Prom was memorable because the students were able to perform what they have started practicing,” she said.
