It was foolish for me to think I knew enough about leadership. After all, I was the eldest among three kids and have always handled schoolmates in group activities. What more is there to learn? Pretty much, I soon found out.

Jabez Christian School (JCS) was wise to allow the Leadership Seminar to be conducted within its campus. Never have I attended a seminar quite like this one. Small-group discussions set it apart from all the others. Each group was composed of five to six students and one to two instructors. Warm-up questions were answered by each of the members before the main topic was revealed. The way, my mind was ready for the “real thing.”

I admire the method the speakers used in stating their points. Instead of directly saying them, they used inspirational stories, video clips, pictures, quotations, and Bible passages to effectively get the message across.

Now, the speakers were truly the best. They helped me open my eyes and see what qualities I lacked as a leader. Thanks to their skillful way of interacting and explaining, I really understood their topics and not just nodded my head in agreement.

I’m grateful to JCS for giving me and schoolmates the chance to attend the Leadership Seminar. Because of it, I learned more about purpose, vision, authority, internal government, and life coaching. That weeks of discovering my potential and what I could achieve with proper leadership has been an enjoyable experience for me. I actually miss it!
