It was foolish for me to think I knew enough about leadership. After all, I was the eldest among three kids and have always handled schoolmates in group activities. What more is there to learn? Pretty much, I soon found out.

Jabez Christian School (JCS) was wise to allow the Leadership Seminar to be conducted within its campus. Never have I attended a seminar quite like this one. Small-group discussions set it apart from all the others. Each group was composed of five to six students and one to two instructors. Warm-up questions were answered by each of the members before the main topic was revealed. The way, my mind was ready for the “real thing.”

JCS Holds Junior-Senior Prom PDF  | Print |

Some 65 third- and fourth- year JCS students and their teachers attended the Juniour-Senior Prom, the much awaited social event of the school year. It was held last February 22. 2008 at the Orchid Clubhouse and Country Club in Salitran Cavite.

Male students looked dapper in their coat and tie. And the girls were lovely in their beautiful gowns and cocktail dresses. Some wore gowns courtesy ok kind-hearted sponsors.

One of the highlights was the crowning of the Prom King and Queen. A pastor from Victory Christian Fellowship gave a short talk on love, courtship and marriage that was well-received.

It’s started with 28 students in 1996. Last March 2007, 86 students (32 in preparatory, 35 in Elementary and 19 in High School) graduated from Jabez Christian School (JCS). As of first week of June 2007, 338 students were already enrolled and more are scheduled for interview. The increase in number of enrollees proves only one thing; people have come to know about the school and what it offers.

What makes JCS different from other schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite that parents opt to enroll their children here despite the distance from their homes? The curriculum may not be different but the methods, procedures and expectations are. Classes are very structured, with high academic and behavioral standards. The children get good education and Christian training at a very reasonable cost.

The school also offers scholarship for Home of Joy kids and for indigent but qualified kids in Batuhan, a depressed area in Dasmariñas. It has also opened its door not only foreigners (Koreans, Japanese, and Fil-Americans) but special students as well who are enjoying the inclusive educational system.
