Using his book, Light in the Shadows, Ed Landry used simple explanations and visual aids to explain God’s plan of redemption, beginning in the Old Testament times, through the use of the Tabernacle, priests, sacrifices and rituals – a picture God sent before He sent His Son who will be the ultimate sacrifice to redeem man from his sin. Mr. Landry explained that all these things were just shadows that ended at the foot of the cross where Jesus Christ declared “It is finished!”

Secondly, it is the first time ever, where a replica of the Ark of the Covenant, a miniature
Construction of the Tabernacle and garments of the ordinary priest and the High Priest, were shown in a conference. It was both learning and humbling experience to be looking at a High Priest and Ark of the Covenant (because it reminds us that only the High Priest could enter the Holy of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant is placed).

Mr. Landry not only explained the Old Testament laws and covenants, animal sacrifices and priestly functions ( a temporary system designed by God to show man that his help comes outside of himself), but he also emphasized that God would one day send a final solution to restore the fallen man and reclaim His kingdom – and that is through the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Ed Landry graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Canada, with a degree in Biblical studies. He and his wife Janet along with their five children, spent 25 years on the mission field training church planters. This conference is one of the ways he trains planters. Ed is a missionary with Action International Ministries and helps develop sustainable church planting among some of the poorest people in the world.

Although not many people came to attend the conference as expected, the 161 delegates who came expressed appreciation for the seminar. Most delegates went to the stage for a photo session with the High Priest along with the Ark of the Covenant. Some had their books “Light in the Shadows” autographed by the author, Ed Landry. Aside from the book, Light in the Shadows, three (3) assorted CLAIM books were also given to all the participants.

It will be a missed out opportunity for those who did not attend the seminar, but for those who did, they will have a treasure of learning to take home and share with others.
